Christon Jones has been nominated as a Black Enterprise Teenpreneur of the Year. He has spoken to audiences on three continents and has an online mastermind course that (grown) people across the country are taking, to learn from him. Christon is a day trader on the U.S. Stock Market and the CEO of his own firm, Return On Investment, LLC. None of this is necessarily unheard of in world history at first glance but the Christon’s story takes an unusual twist, should you ask his age — he’s actually 12.

Christon’s dad is in real estate and his mom is in the military. At the age of seven Christon heard about a Black boy in Chicago who made $50,000 after investing in the stock market. He asked his mother to show him how to invest in stocks — she didn’t take him too seriously. Christon began doing his own research, which convinced her that he was in fact sincere. Christon obviously has done well trading but his ambitions aren’t selfish. Jones is particularly focused on helping underprivileged youth learn how to invest and trade in the stock market, to create financial freedom for the future. To that end, he founded the Truth Playmaker Awards, which was held its first show this past summer, in Atlanta.

The award show recognizes black excellence in youth who have positively impacted the business, sports, social, and entertainment industries. The event featured a red carpet gala reception, live entertainment, dinner by celebrity Chef Carlos Brown, and an awards ceremony graced by elite guests, celebrities, performing artists, influencers, and business professionals. Christon is hoping to bring many others along as he succeeds and makes no apologies for his particular emphasis on Black entrepreneurship and Black wealth. To that end, he has a sure system for trading:

T – Tap 20 companies that you really like. Be sure to choose companies in which you already buy their stuff.
R – Research these companies and find everything you can. Read AND watch the news.
U – Understand the company’s historical data. How has it been performing in the past? There could be key indicators to predict its future performance.
T – Trade AFTER closing. Day trading can be an emotional roller coaster. Sleep on it and trade the next day.
H – Have an entry & exit strategy. Know what your bottom line numbers are, to determine when you will buy the stock and when you have hit your profit number so you get out. And stick to it!
