At the age of 13 they not only travel the country as motivational speakers but Kamryn Johnson and Saniya-Symone Scott actually have something to say. These two kidpreneurs are behind the Kam & Niya Youth Empowerment Network, a vehicle they use to encourage other kids to become leaders and entrepreneurs. The issue isn’t a child’s age but rather, how they see themselves.
The message Kam and Niya have is simple — kids of any age can accomplish anything, including entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship, incidentally, is a topic the two know quite well. Saniya-Symone runs her own jewelry business, Symone’s Stones, which benefits various charities with a portion of its proceeds. In addition, she also runs an apparel line, Iconic Legends. Iconic Television actually awarded Saniya with the Kidpreneur of the Year Award. Kamryn runs her own apparel line, Kam Koture. The brand seeks to motivate people with its shirts and inspire them. Kamryn gives 10% from her business to organizations that actively support youth. The two have also authored a cookbook with kid-friendly recipes, Cooking in Style. Kam and Niya can do most, if not all, and they’re determined to take as many peers with them, as they can.
At the ages of 8 and 9 the pair launched the Kam & Niya Youth Empowerment Network. Today they travel across the country, speaking at expos, conferences and schools. They primarily speak to kid audiences, high school aged and younger. Of late they’ve been invited to Dallas, Atlanta and Los Angeles, among other places. With each stop and invitation, their intention isn’t simply exposure but empowerment, for other young entrepreneurs. Kam and Niya are in fact motivational speakers but with a much greater purpose and that is to mobilize an entire generation of young people to dream bigger and actually birth what they conceive. That is a sure recipe to alter world history.
The important question isn’t your age but rather, your vision. Kam and Niya see big things for themselves and others their age. They have made the bold choice to step out, pursue their dreams and motivate others to do the same. They are entrepreneurs, friends, inspirations and of course, young Black girls who absolutely rock.
