After 3 Kids This Black Mom Got Her Midsection Back; Her Product Is Helping Other Moms Do The Same

TQ Evans had given birth to three babies and well after pregnancy, her mid-section still hadn’t snapped back. Her abdominal muscles remained separated by a condition known as diastasis recti. The result is a protruding belly bulge, known as a “pooch” or “mommy-tummy.” About two-thirds of all pregnant women have it, and many women continue to experience this bulge, well after giving birth, for the rest of their lives. Now there is a solution — Prende Pants.

Prende Pants are the first post-pregnancy high-waist leggings, made using material from recycled water bottles, created by a mom & trained Birth Doula. Prende Pants uses belly wrapping traditions and modern design to naturally support and enhance the midsection, after birth and beyond. Prende pants are unique in that they incorporate modern, technical fabrics, with wrapping techniques that date back to Africa, to provide a confidence boosting solution for moms. Prende Pants not only provide style and comfort to women, they also encourage moms to focus on themselves while supporting them through a journey of reclamation, and that is priceless. Prende is the goddess of love and beauty in Albanian mythology and in Porteguese, the word means “to hold.” The name carries a deep meaning for the company. As Evans says, “It’s not just about the pants, it’s about creating a community of women who define motherhood on our terms. I want every woman that puts on a pair of Prende Pants to be reminded of how bad-ass they really are.”

It was during a routine visit one day to a mom-centered gym class that everything changed. During a water break, Evans noticed that almost every woman in the class was tugging and pulling up their leggings, trying to gain more support and coverage in the midsection area. An idea was sparked and she began researching and purchasing any products that claimed to provide a solution to this specific issue, spending over $2,000 on this initial investment. None of them worked. As a trained birth Doula, Evans began collecting birth stories from women around the world to learn about their journeys. While pregnancy can be a beautiful experience, she also learned that once the baby is born, many women struggle with issues relating to self-identity, self-confidence and self-esteem. After giving birth, the wardrobe can be a place of frustration and disappointment. It is difficult to find flattering yet comfortable clothes designed to accommodate and support a woman’s changing body.

Evans decided to do something about the problem, herself. She sketched out a prototype and began to create her own solution. While working full time, being a wife and mom to small children, she began studying the art of belly wrapping. She enrolled in a 3 month entrepreneur bootcamp program, and in her spare time began taking private sewing lessons. In time, Evans found a woman owned factory that took a chance on her and production began. Prende Pants is gaining traction all over the country and there’s a reason — there isn’t another comparable product on the market. Prende Pants is helping women all over the country reclaim themselves, regain their confidence and get back to feeling bold and beautiful, even after giving birth. Support Prende Pants, today!
