We Buy Black and SheaMoisture have teamed up to bring the culture the Black Business Relief Fund. After reviewing 3588 applications carefully, we have settled on 20 awardees, each who’ve been awarded a $5,000 grant. The second business is By Dami Studios, an excellent business that is totally worthy of this honor.

Founded in 2011, By Dami Studios is a Harlem studio that specializes in creating luxury custom invitations, fine stationery and gifting. The company creates intentional goods for all of life’s moments, with high quality and timeless designs for the discerning clientele. By Dami Studios is passionate about serving their clients, flawless craftsmanship, attention to detail and originality. By Dami Studios is also proud to present Parchment by Dami, Boxed by Dami, and Clutched by Dami.Parchment by Dami specializes in creating luxury custom invitations and fine stationery. Boxed by Dami’s main focus is creating truly personalized luxury gifting. Lastly, with over 3,500 hand-placed crystals, By Dami Studios is proud of their newest addition, Clutched by Dami. Clutched by Dami has the ability to create anything your mind can dream up, their handmade custom clutches serve as one of a kind keepsakes that will last for many generations to come.

By Dami Studios, from its inception, has always focused on charitable giving. The company has given to various causes, most prominently childhood cancer and Donors Choose; the nonprofit connects teachers in high-need communities with donors who want to help. As a former teacher, By Dami Studios founder Damilola Okuboyejo wanted to do more to support local teachers. To that end, last year, By Dami Studios added a fund during Teacher’s Appreciation Week to donate money to a deserving teacher. Despite the uncertainty the company is facing, this year will be the fund’s second and the company is committed to making it annual. This $5,000 grant will most certainly help the company do that and it can’t come at a better time.

By Dami Studios has been in business for over 8 years and just 2 years ago, the company moved into their own studio. All events booked have been canceled or postponed, bringing revenues to a crawl. The staff is currently not being paid and the future is very uncertain. Even with the current pandemic and its impact to the business, the studio owner has not been willing to offer any rent solutions. In addition to paying the rent, staff and continuing its charitable activities, By Dami Studios is seeking a lifeline so that it can continue to make memories for so many other people. $5,000 is but a small sum in this world but for By Dami Studios and owner Damilola Okuboyejo, it’s a lifeline.
