We Buy Black and SheaMoisture have teamed up to bring the culture the Black Business Relief Fund. After reviewing 3588 applications carefully, we have settled on 20 awardees, each who’ve been awarded a $5,000 grant. The fourth business is Emojis Grilled Cheese Bar, an excellent business that is totally worthy of this honor.

Emojis Grilled Cheese Bar operates a fleet of food trucks that take traditional comfort food combinations and transforms them into unique Grilled Cheese combinations. Buffalo Chicken, Bacon Cheddar and Tomato & Basil are just a few of the wonderful creations you’ll find at Emojis. Customers in the Austin, Tx know that when they see an Emojis Grilled Cheese Bar food truck, they are very close to having an otherworldly culinary experience. The food is amazing but this Black owned business is far more than just grilled cheese.

Hope Green is the founder of Emojis who, when her daughter was nine, found herself homeless. Her business was birthed out of that experience, as was a greater commitment to giving back. Emojis Grilled Cheese uses its fleet of food trucks to teach job and life skills to homeless teens and youth aging out of foster care. The company is currently donating 100 packed lunches to individuals in need of housing, each week. There are immediate plans to continue working with apartment communities and homeowners associations to generate the revenue needed to continue feeding the homeless and provide free meals to Healthcare Heroes. Further, the company is working with local youth detention centers to develop a cafe and culinary program, which will employ recently released youth.

All of this, however, is threatened by COVID-19. A number of large events have been cancelled, including SXSW, the company’s single biggest moneymaker. Faced with a deficit nearing $100,000, Emojis has been forced to cut employee hours substantially. Thanks to We Buy Black and SheaMoisture, there is a glimmer of hope now. The Black Business Relief Fund, for Emojis Grilled Cheese Bar, couldn’t come at a better time.
