Arshawn Henderson is the designer behind this fashion line. At just 24-years-old, this native of Oak Ridge, TN is making noise in the world of design with his original eye and instincts. Arshawn grew up in an entrepreneurial family. His mom and dad operated a food truck, where Arshawn was responsible for pumping tea for customers. Some days his thumb would literally turn purple from so much pump action. Oak Ridge was his foundation but Arshawn knew that he needed to leave to go big. He moved to Nashville and because he loved music, studied sound audio engineering. He started selling studio time and beats to make money. An assignment at school changed everything — the instructor asked Arshawn to come up with a business plan, for any business of his choice. What started as an assignment turned into a dream fulfilled.
Many of the people in Arshawn’s hometown were content with average. Many were in prison, others lived paycheck to paycheck. One of Arshawn’s brothers had actually passed from a heart attack. What started as a class assignment somehow morphed into an opportunity for Arshawn to build something to inspire his nieces and nephews to something bigger than what they see daily. Dreams 2 Lifestyles was Arshawn’s chance to leave a legacy and inspire everyone around him. But it wasn’t easy. Just a few months into the venture, a former roommate stole all of Arshawn’s inventory and skipped out on the rent. Arshawn had to move back home with his parents, with no money or product. He kept marketing, even when he didn’t have the merchandise because he was determined to see this through.
Today Dreams 2 Lifestyles is growing its footprint across the country, recently striking deals with retail outlets as far away as Las Vegas. Arshawn is exceptional but shouldn’t be the exception.
