Gaylord Salters has been incarcerated since 2001 and still found a way to achieve his dreams. With the help of his daughter Gabrielle Salters—who serves as co-owner and vice president—he launched Go Get It Publishing at the beginning of the year. The company not only provides entertaining literature but also labels itself as a movement with the goal of encouraging others to work hard and pursue their goals. Go Get It Publishing has published two novels by Gaylord Salters, who goes by the name L.O.R.D. His latest book, “Momma Bear,” explores “the heartbreaking struggle, risks, and results of raising minority youth in urban America.” The company is also looking to publish novels in various genres, including science fiction, romance, non-fiction, fantasy and urban fiction. Gabrielle Salters says her father has never let being incarcerated stop him from doing what needs to be done on the outside, whether it was taking care of family or taking care of business. “It is that same work ethic and hustle he had many years ago on the streets, which led to his incarceration, that will now lead and inspire his family and community to go out and never settle for less, no matter the circumstances,” she said. L.O.R.D. grew up in New Haven, Connecticut in an environment full of poverty, drugs and violence. He was sentenced to 29 years in prison after being convicted of first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit assault. Salters said that her father, who she feels was wrongfully convicted, is not letting that stop him. “He has now been using his knowledge and experiences in the past to create alternative routes that would allow others who grew up as he did to avoid paths of destruction. This is what motivated him to start this company,” she said. Learn more about Go Get It Publishing or purchase literature and merchandise by visiting its website.]]>
