4 Things You Need To Know About Diddy's Plans To Buy Carolina Panthers

1. Diddy’s Tweet After the sexual misconduct allegations against Jerry Richardson ensued, he stated that he would sell the Carolina Panthers. This means that now the franchise that Richardson built is now up for grabs. Following that announcement, Rap Legend P Diddy took to Twitter. His Tweet read, “I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!” Prior to Tweeting his interest in buying the football team, he Tweeted that there are no Black team owners in the NFL. He closed out this Tweet by writing, “Let’s make history.” It has been a longstanding dream of Sean Combs’ to own the NFL. He could possibly be tackling that dream with the acquisition of his first NFL team.

2. Making Moves

In buying the Carolina Panthers, Diddy would make history by becoming the first Black football team owner in the NFL, which is great. But aside from making history, he has also stated that he would like to sign free agent Colin Kaepernick. Diddy has been very vocal in his support of Colin Kaepernick’s political protest. Apparently, they have been in communication kicking around the idea of buying a football team. According to some sources, the duo has even explored the idea of creating their own football league. colin kaepernick, p diddy, carolina panthers, NFL, football team

3. Kaepernick

As you know, since Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the National Anthem, no one has hired him. He’s proven many times on the field that he is a good quarterback. In an article that the Washington Post published, they compare Kaepernick’s adjusted net yards per attempt with other QBs in the league. He ranks about average. 15 are better than him, 13 are worse than him, and four are his equals in terms of skillset. There is no reason why he should not have been on someone’s team this season. But that’s ok. Because it seems as though Diddy is seeing to it that Kaepernick gets his much-deserved opportunity to play football again.

4. Other Interests

In doing my research, there seems to be a number of stars and athletes who support Diddy’s idea. Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors has expressed interest in supporting the creating of a new football team. Another rap legend, Master P, has also stated that he would like to create his own football league. Perhaps P Diddy and Master P could create rival teams — all in the name of fun, of course. Diddy’s acquisition of the Carolina Panthers could be the first step in creating a Black-owned and operated NFL. At least the culture of ownership would be greatly diversified. If P Diddy is able to acquire the Carolina Panthers, it would be a true testament to the power of the Black dollar. As We Buy Black finds out more information, we will keep you updated.
