DON’T GIVE UP ON BLACK BUSINESSES AFTER ONE BAD EXPERIENCE

What gets Black people to the point of NOT wanting to support ALL Black businesses? Simply because of that ONE horrid experience they may have faced previously. Unfortunately, most assume that Black businesses are not on the same business level as others, so we deem them unprofessional and before you can bat an eye, we’re back shopping at white owned businesses. Some of us have been programmed to correlate “good business” with White owned businesses and subpar business standards with Black owned businesses. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some Black businesses that definitely need some fine-tuning, and mainly because in this business industry we are scrutinized and measured on a much higher scale. We have to work twice as hard to get what half of what others have. So we must make sure our customer service is on point, our refund and exchange policy is fair and the company reviews showcase how amazing the company is; we just have to soar on all levels. It may not be fair but it’s the world we live in. Our buying power is so strong, don’t believe me? Advance tickets for the movie Black Panther have sold out quicker than any other Marvel film. I’ve been hearing that Lupita Nyong’o can’t even purchase one, now if that isn’t buying power I don’t know what is. There is strength in numbers and we have to be willing to stick around and support those in our own community. There are still some individuals I know who admit that they’ll continue to support H&M and Dove even after their recent marketing racial faux-pas. If we can continue to support White businesses that DON’T take us seriously and consistently drop the ball, then we can definitely stick around and support products that are for us, by us.]]>
