Jaden Smith is a critically acclaimed actor and rapper. He’s also becoming quite the philanthropist. During his birthday weekend he took to Instagram to unveil his “I Love You” pop up vegan restaurant. He used the vegan food truck to give out free vegan meals to the homeless on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, an area with one of the largest homeless populations in the United States.
The homeless problem in America is astounding. There are currently over a half million homeless people living in the U.S. today. Skid Row itself has a homeless population of about 5,000 – 8,000. “The @Iloveyou restaurant is a movement about giving people what they deserve, healthy, vegan food for free,” Smith wrote in an Instagram post. He also said it was the “first of many.”
The ERYS rapper also posted a clip of a long line of customers waiting to be fed. This is certainly familiar territory for Jaden Smith. Earlier this year, he announced that he will be helping to solve the Flint water crisis. A portion of the profits he generates from his JUST Water company will go toward installing filtration systems around the city in order to purify the contaminated water.
A lot of people talk about making a difference and changing the world. Jaden Smith is one of the few that put the work in to actually do it.
