A Morehouse College graduate and former interim president of the institution has been named as CEO of Taco Mac, a popular Atlanta sports bar chain known for its wings, burgers and wide selection of beer.
Harold Martin, Jr. is also co-owner of the company, which has 24 locations in Georgia, three in North Carolina and one in Tennessee. His passion includes developing and executing comprehensive growth strategies and relentlessly managing store operations, according to his online biography.
“We respect and value this brand not only as investors, but as fellow guests ourselves. Our commitment is to be true to Taco Mac’s roots by serving families the best wings and craft beer in the city in a sports-focused casual dining environment,” Martin said in a press release.
Taco Mac was recently purchased by Martin and Michael Bodnar, John Michael Bodnar and Mike Tidwell. These four are listed as partners at Atlanta-based company Fresh Hospitality, which is comprised of investors, entrepreneurs and chefs who work to help restaurants and entrepreneurs grow. Taco Mac was purchased from Dallas-based private equity owners CIC Partners.
Taco Mac was founded in Atlanta in 1979. It was named the best sports bar in Atlanta by Jezebel, Groupon and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and one of the five best sports bars in America by ESPN.
Martin earned his bachelor’s degree from Morehouse and went on to earn graduate degrees from Harvard and Yale.
